Pickleball Court Layout. A pickleball court is the same size as a doubles badminton court and measures 20×44 feet. In pickleball, the same court is used for both singles and doubles play. The net height is 36 inches at the sidelines and 34 inches in the middle. The court is striped similar to a tennis court with right and left service courts and a 7-foot non-volley zone in front of the net (referred to as the “kitchen”).
USA Pickleball is the national governing body for the sport of pickleball in the US and provides players with official rules, tournaments, rankings & more.
A whole pickleball court is only 2 feet longer than a tennis court’s service boxes (the boxes closest to the net on the tennis court). The singles lines on a tennis court (the long lines running down the court nearest to the center of the court) are each only 3 ½ feet wider than the long lines along a pickleball court.

If everyone is standing around waiting for someone else to step up and play pickleball with them, then no one will have fun.
The US (and many other parts of the world too) has a huge obesity problem, so to see a sport growing like this is a good thing. The issue is if they are replacing tennis courts with pickleball courts. Tennis has been around in its current form since the 1870s but has been played in some form since the 11th century.
The remaining tennis courts at Burleson, Caruth, Curtis, Germany, and Smith parks will be repurposed for tennis only. “We will develop a five-year capital improvement project plan to where every year we resurface a different tennis court, we will remove the pickleball lines from those tennis courts,” Johnson said of the remaining tennis courts.
